Ministries at Annunciation of the Lord

Altar Server (adult or child)

Our Altar Servers help the priest reverently celebrate the Mass with and for our parish family.  Our Servers help prepare the sanctuary, lead the procession, help prepare the gifts for communion and attend to other duties needed for the celebration of our liturgical services.  We welcome any boy or girl, in the third grade or higher, who has received their First Communion, to join us in this important ministry.  Servers are encouraged to continue serving as long the Lord blesses them with this role in our community. Please contact the parish office for more information about how you can participate in the Mass along side our Lord in this very special way.

Sacristan - Phil Cronin

Master of Ceremony - Ashley Correia & Michael Alberto

Lead Altar Server- Lead Altar Servers have at least three full years of experience as an Altar Server. They have mastered service of the regular Mass and have participated in multiple special occasion Masses.  Lead Altar Servers are the Peer Leaders of the Ministry. They help train other servers, particularly Apprentices.  Those who aspire to this level of service should ask the Pastor to promote them to this level and a training class will be provided.

Senior Altar Servers have served Senior Servers at special occasions and are capable of fulfilling almost all of the needs of the Parish for Altar Service.  Served in all positions (CROSS and CANDLES); served at least two special Masses or services (Easter Vigil, Christmas Midnight, Stations of the Cross) . Those seeking this level of service should ask the Pastor to promote them to this level.  A training class will be provided and Senior servers commit to serving while in High School.

The Apprentice Program gives new Altar Servers the opportunity to learn by closely watching experienced Altar Servers. The Apprentice's job is to watch and learn.  Apprentices dress in albs and walk in procession with the regular Altar Servers. An apprentice will be assigned the position of book holder for a minimum of Apprentice Serversthree  masses.   Persons meeting the requirements to become an Altar Server are admitted to the Apprentice level after attending a new Altar Server training.

ALTAR SERVER'S PRAYER:  Loving Father, Creator of the universe, you call your people to worship, to be with you and each other at Mass. Help me, for you have called me also. Keep me prayerful and alert. Help me to help others in prayer. Thank you for the trust you’ve placed in me. Keep me true to that trust. I make my prayer in Jesus' name, who is with us in the Holy Spirit. Amen.

DEFINITION OF ALTAR SERVER: It is a great privilege to serve at the Altar of our God and therefore Servers are chosen from those who display a desire for a more intimate union with our Lord and God, Jesus Christ.  Our loving Savior becomes present on the Altar, just as He was at the Last Supper and Calvary.  Accordingly, Servers have a responsibility to do their assigned duties with dignity and reverence.

Domingas

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

These men and women are chosen by the priest to serve our brothers and sisters at Mass by distributing Holy Communion. This is not a program for which one can volunteer and one must be of consistent and deep faith as well as having a strong moral standing in our parish community to serve.  After completing the training program for this office, ministers are commissioned by Fr. Murphy, usually on the Feast of Corpus Christi, for a period of three years, renewable by Fr. Murphy and with your consent.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist to the Sick

In addition to distributing the Eucharist during the celebration of Mass, some ministers also make Communion available to our homebound brothers and sisters and those in the hospital and nursing homes.  Due to the very sensitive nature of these duties, ministers are chosen by Fr. Murphy and are specially trained for this ministry.   If you are already an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, and you feel the call of the Holy Spirit to serve our brothers and sisters in this special way, you are encouraged to let Fr. Murphy know you would like to be considered to bring Jesus to those who are suffering from various infirmities.

Greeters/Collectors/Ushers

Lector

Our Lectors are the men and women of our parish community who proclaim the Word of God during Mass and other liturgical celebrations.  Lectors should read well and be able to proclaim the Old and New Testament readings with enthusiasm and clarity. Speak to Fr. Murphy if you would like to serve our community in this way and if you are a young person who has received your Confirmation, you too are most welcome to join this ministry and help our community fully participate in all our celebrations.

Saint Martha's Guild

Like Martha from the Gospel of Saint Luke, the members of our Saint Martha's Guild attend to the needs of the church by keeping it clean and tidy so we can all focus on worshiping God in the great liturgy of the Mass. Members meet every other week, praying as they go about vacuuming and dusting the sanctuary and pews.

St. Vincent de Paul

Our members, known as "Vincentians," are men and women from our parish community who strive to grow closer to Christ by offering a person-to-person ministry to individuals and families who find themselves in need. We are young and old alike, from all manner of backgrounds who believe that we have been blessed by God and in turn, we must use our blessings of time, talent and treasure to help all of our brothers and sisters regardless of their faith or the life situation they find themselves in. Thanks to the generosity of Fr. Murphy and the members of our parish family, all Holy Day Collections are donated to us to support all of our charitable works, which benefit most, our neighbors in our local community. If you would like to find out how you can help, or if you find yourself in need of food, clothing, fuel assistance, etc., please call our "We help people."  The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul was founded 170 years ago on a simple premise; hot line at (508) 880-1583. All information is kept strictly confidential. Members of the Society help provide dinners to local families in need of a helping hand throughout the year.  This is made possible only through the generosity of our parishioners who contribute to the Society through our Holy Day collections and donate all manner of food stuffs when the call goes out to refill our pantries.  On behalf of all those we serve, thank you for your continued generosity.  And remember, if you need some assistance, or know of someone who needs help, you are not alone.  Call our hotline and we'll see what we can do to help you.

Women of Faith

The Women of Faith are a group of parishioners who regularly get together to celebrate a common spirituality and foster a spirit of friendship and unity.  Any woman, eighteen years of age or older who is registered in the parish, is welcomed to join this ministry to advance the spiritual, cultural and social interests of our parish community. Some of their activities include plantings around the entrances of the church; hosting sales of carnations for Mother's Day and poinsettias for Christmas; an Annual Ladies Tea and the sponsoring of an educational scholarship to a parishioner attending a Catholic Middle School. If you think you might be interested in joining our Women of Faith, contact the parish office and a member will be in touch with you.
